How to create a Virtual Firewall
Login to your cloud dashboard with userid / password provided in an email.
(IMPORTANT: Dashboard uses features from HTML5, please use browser that fully supports HTML5. Some examples are Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera).

- In dashboard, expand “Network” from left navigation menu.

– - Select “Firewalls” section. (IMPORTANT: Once a firewall is successfully created, the default is to drop all traffic unless specified in “Firewall Rules”).

– - Go to “Firewall Rules” tab.

– - Click “+ Add Rule” button to create your first rule, or additional rules.

–- Name, recommended format is “flowtype-network-action-
ports” (Example: ingress-dmz-allow-80, this name defines in-bound traffic to DMZ network that is allowed over port 80). - Description can be helpful to understand rules.

- Source IP Address/Subnet
- Destination IP Address/Subnet
- Source Port/Port Range
- Destination Port/Port Range
- Click “Add”

- Name, recommended format is “flowtype-network-action-
- Go to “Firewall Policies” tab.

– - Click “+ Add Policy” button to create your firewall policy.
- Now that you have successfully created some rules and a policy, it is time to create the firewall. Go to “Firewalls” tab and click “Create Firewall”
- Firewall Status will change from “PENDING_CREATE” to “ACTIVE” in few seconds. You have successfully created a firewall.

– - Congratulations, now your virtual data-center has a firewall to control security.
